Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Kingfisher soaks in the giant sequoia mojo on the last section of still-plowed path.

Inside out. We had a peek into the fire-scoured inside of a sequoia base, requiring a hop down to dry ground from a four foot snowbank. These hollows would make great improvised overnight shelter, if needed in a pinch.

The floor of the hollow was littered with cones brought in by ???

Back out the way we came in.

Speculating on the weather at Wawona Point. At close to 7,000 feet, it's not nearly the highest thing in the park, but we agreed it was an unexpectedly nice spot for a tromp in the snow. Bear, coyote, and mountain lion tracks crossed our path on the way up here. Wawona Dome can be seen as a treeless patch on the right. Wawona is a native word for the big trees now known as the sequoias.
