One final neato-o photo from up on Mount Pichincha above Quito. This gives you a good idea of how the city is basically poured eficciently into the valley between two parallel chains of mountains/volcanoes. Muy cool.

Noctural visitor to the tourism office. The body of this monster was about 3.5 inches long. They get bigger I'm told, even here. Imagine how huge they are in the Amazon basin . . .
