Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

7 Nov 2007

Drizzle and magic mountains as we wait to pass through the checkpoint a few minutes past 5am, to be released on the mad dash to Machu Picchu along the last stretch of the Inka Trail.

Cat'll scratch ya if you get in her way, keep it moving now!

The steep and forbidding territory where the site is found high above the Urubamba valley. (Bonus if you can see the tourist train tracks below..)

Bobcat the Mountainjedi at the "Sun Gate," which offers trekkers their first glimpse of the city. Huayna Picchu looms over his left shoulder.

Bobcat, Kingfisher, Cat, Zebra, and Liger bask momentarily in the feeling of "we made it!" before beginning the forty minute descent to the "postcard picture view" terraces above the site.
