Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Flying Bobcat? How about Flying Pine Cone? Mt. Shasta posing nicely in the background. This was taken off of the side of the blistering hot Hat Creek Rim.

Got mosquitoes? I was thoroughly impressed by Yak's pressed mosquito collection, stored in the pages of his PCT data book. Sweet.

Did I mention that it gets HOT out here sometimes? This undoctored photo (although we could have used a doctor on this day) shows my thermometer reading 109 degrees in the SHADE during the walk into Burney Falls, CA. Sick sick SICK heat. Noone should be hiking in that kind of weather and the fact that we did simply goes to show that all thru-hikers are more or less insane.

However.... knowing that THIS, the amazing Burney Falls, was awaiting us to provide satisfaction and cold cold relief makes it OK I guess.

We camped that night at the Burney Falls campground, where there were a few mosquitoes out. Neither of us got much sleep seeing as the little suckers were so persistent as to try and steal soda from my straw, as pictured. W.T.F?
