At Umpqua Hot Springs northwest of Crater Lake we met with a perfect combination of fall colors and chilly weather plus toasty natural waters at 108 degrees. This was the best set of springs I'd encountered so far on the trip.


One of the main pools had a rustic wooden shelter covering it, and the structure was covered in hippy dippy paintings and grafitti and other cultural results of nights spent soaking away worrries by the light of dripping candles.


Can't leave the Crater Whale out of a good hot pool soak.
