Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Green alpine lake in the saddle between Illiniza Norte and Illiniza Sur. This is facing west, so eventually if you just started hiking you'd hit the Pacific Ocean.

Looking up to our goal, the summit of Illiniza Norte. We were feeling like EGGS we were scrambling so much to get up there! Around back of the false summit pyramid is a spot called Paso del Muerte. PASS OF DEATH. dum dum DUMMMMMM.

Managing a smile at the summit. Colder than it looks. 'Course on the way back down the sun came out and we ROASTED! Thanks for the hat, Chuffmate!

Cool subalpine plantlife on the way down from the refuge three mornings ago.

And finally, getting on a bus to head back to Quito after spending a night in another volunteer's site down in the valley. Illiniza Norte is the peak to the right.
