Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Rode in a runaway mine cart for real the other day. It fell over and almost rolled over me and killed me. It was good times.

Here are my main counterparts with an Ecuavista television crew who came to Zaruma to do some major filming. We were up on the roof of one of the nicest houses in town. Ended up getting lunch and dinner paid for, which was good. Free tigrillo and steak!

In the same mine cart accident mine, here I am fleeing the encroaching dynamite smoke. We were covering our ears every few minutes because of the blasting. Then the smeel started to creep up, then the smoke, so we had to umm, make our escape. Not a place to take the kids I fear...

Part of the television crew´s job was to take photos and get fotage of the beautiful Zaruman women, so we got Pati, the Queen of Zaruma 2006, to come with us on a surreal photo shoot, going to take pics int eh park and at a hostel and later in one of the mines set up for tourism...
