Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Before I forget, I have to mention something that anyone who skipped visiting Lake Isabella will truly kick themselves to find out. This is something not in the Yogi PCT handbook but definitely should be. There is a place just outside of town called Manny's. Manny's is a "Nick and Dent" store, meaning they sell stuff that the big supermarkets don't want ... cans with dents, smooshed boxes of cereal, miscolored packaging, and stuff that is just slightly past the expiration date. Witness exhibit A, above. 40 (FORTY) assorted PowerBars, Balance Bars, and similar energy type food units. The price? Count the fingers at the bottom of the photo. Four dollars. That's right. Ten cents apiece. I thought Nelda's was heaven, but Manny's was at least as good. That's like a 90% off sale. So I stocked up and will mail some stuff ahead.

Now, off to the trail to get back into the hills. Send your love and support, and please leave comments on the blog or send email, I need them quite a bit now. Going through some rough stuff despite the scenic beauty and exhilaration of a pounding heart as I crest each ridgetop step by step. Love to all, Bobcat
