Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Someone said that hiking south is like hiking downhill. Someone never hiked south...
And so it began, Phase 3a Section Q Chapter 34 in the saga of Bobcat's Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike in 2008.

Right away I was tempted to see what others no doubt were passing up in their frenzied and ravenous and exhausted scramble to reach the Manning Park Lodge. This is Windy Joe Mountain's fire lookout tower. Number 8 in my ever-increasing list of towers climbed on this trip. Nice place, two storeys, unlocked and clean with some interesting interpretive stuff inside. All that for the simple price of an extra 800 foot climb and descent. What can I say, why go so very near something like this and not take the time and effort to go investigate? You're only gonna be there probably once in your entire life.

That's all there is, folks. I did see something there that Team Bad Wizard, if they're still out there, will be tickled to see. The Bad Wizard himself in particular will want to reach the northern terminus to find what's waiting for him.
