Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Yak on his second to last day on the trail checking out the awesome Welcome to Oregon register at the unexpectedly fantastic water/soda cache. Deciding where to camp is easy when there are two ice chests filled with sugary liquids.

Surveying the damage the next morning.

In Ashland, welcome to Oregon! Grass in cars. Reminds me of a book I read as a kid, the Baobob Tree. Some dude was driving around win a truck with a tree growing out of it. Awesome.

Our wonderful host took us on a trip to see her yurt on 60 beautiful acres, then all the way up to yet another fire lookout tower. Here's the view of Mt. Shasta the inescapable from lookout tower number five I think.

And here's Ken the fire lookout showing us how to shoot an azimuth or whatever. No GPS for him, it's all mechanical knowhow and simple tricks. There's no mysterious force controls HIS destiny, no sirree.
