Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Oh sweet, another wedding guest had a rental car and time to kill. Recipe for adventure!
We quickly decided to head over to the famous Arecibo Observatory, home of the world's largest radio telescope (And the world's most tediously boring visitor's center movie). Scenes from the Jodie Foster film CONTACT and the 007 flick GOLDENEYE were filmed here, but other than that the day to day activities are so crypic and yawn-inducing that the only way we could scare up some excitement was by getting lost on the way to the dish and then getting caught in FOUR separate political rallies trying to get back to Rincon. Thus is life in Latin America.

How nice. Wonder who sponsored this facility?

Still a mystery. Who could it be that sponsored the visitor's center? The world may never know. Sup Einstein?

Yall might want to clean some of that scum offa that thing, make it really BLING you know? The dish is 1,000 feet across.

Each of the cables that hold up the sensor array weigh ten tons. My Crater Whale, however, weighs next to nothing.
