The marker wheel on the roof of the Dee Wright Observatory, one of the strangest and most unique structures along the entire trail. This mini-castle is made of lava stones and loos rather like an overgrown sand castle in the middle of a bleak and desolate land of jagged stone and dead forest.






Mount Washington's pinnacle through more rain and shrouds of cold mist.


And a moment of partial clarity, masking its face behind a wisp of cloud. I camped at the base of this mountain two nights ago.
