Chronicles of the Wayward Moot

WELCOME TO THE MOOT, oh world-wanderers and word-whisperers. After two years of Peace Corps. After 2,200 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. What. Comes. Next?

Well looks can be deceiving. On we go to explore the history of this incredible place.

Looks like your average mild-mannered sandstone cliff, right?

A-HA. This is what we were hoping to find. The view from one of the cave dwellings.

Before we found ruins, we found cactus.

Kingfisher and I were joined by Cat's sister at Indian Garden our second night. Let's call her "Aardvark." (Cat was another of the PCVs on last year's trip to Macchu Pichu. These pseudonyms are getting a bit cumbersome, no?) Here we're leaving Indian Garden and branching off from the Bright Angel Trail , delineated by the brilliant yellow leaves of the cottonwoods, onto the Tonto East Trail. From there we took an abandoned section of the Old Bright Angel Trail looking for some cliff dwellings rumored to be down there.
